Wild Britain is an important County Wildlife Site and Urchin’s trial snakes around one of the traditional hay meadows, which is alive with wildflowers, insects and other animals.

The trail follows the adventures of a little hedgehog called Urchin. As you discover what happens to Urchin, you can build a shelter, race against time to spot local wildlife, take cover in the woodman's hut and play interactive games to see how much you know about Urchin and his friends.

Around the trail, Oak, ash, field maple and wild cherry trees are growing into a small wood. Hazel, wayfarer, guelder rose and hawthorn have been planted to provide scrub for birds, rabbits and muntjac deer. A few log piles have been allowed to rot down, these provide shelter for robins and wrens, and are an important habitat for many insects.

Ponds are also very important to wildlife, and Urchin’s pond is a breeding site for dragonflies and newts.
